Liberty
2008 - 2026
Liberty was the best Christmas present ever. In a sea of little wrestlers and carpet soilers, she was the runt of the litter tucked away in the corner of the breeder’s house, since my allergies required a hypoallergenic pal. While she may not have been the first doggo I laid eyes on, she was the dog our family needed. After falling asleep in my mom’s lap at the breeder, we knew she was the one. As the dog I had wanted for six long years, Liberty quickly became a member of the family. She was a local neighborhood name, a local street name, a local insurance company name…but she was so much more. We named her after visiting NYC, and “Liberty” truly became the best name to describe her.
She barked at everything, jumped through hula hoops, ran through leaf piles, chewed on mountain dew bottles, and dressed up one year for Halloween as Uncle Sam. She was a free spirit and loved to make everyone happy. It makes sense, given how quickly our family’s situation took a turn just a few years later. Liberty was there to celebrate the highs and cheer us up in the lows. She was at the door when the bus drove by, and on my bed for every good cry. It is very rare that a dog is there to see you graduate elementary school, middle school, high school, college, graduate school, and even see you get married, and that is a blessing I cherish deeply.
She hung on long enough to teach our other doggo the best tricks—how to bark at the neighbors’ dog across the fence, that every blade of grass was an immediate threat, and how to ring the bell on the back door to go potty. But more than that, she left behind so many memories. I may not remember much about what life was like before her, but I’ll never forget my childhood best friend--the doggo that taught me how to care for another and who was always excited to see me, no matter what.

Rebel
2017 - 2026
Rebel joined our young family in 2017. She was a sweet, rambunctious, mouthy little puppy dog that fit right in with our, then, 7, 6 and 4 year old kids. She kept everyone on their toes for her puppy years and then grew into the most loving, protective, loyal guard dog, watching over her kids, cats, chickens, ducks and eventually, another baby, who she humored. Life feels empty right now without her barking at hawks and vultures flying over the yard, demanding that we scratch her rear end, standing at the top of the stairs with her paw out as if to say "hello" whenever we got home. I miss knowing that she's on her bed, keeping an ear out for danger outside of our kids bedrooms at night. I miss her sweet little begging face asking for cheese and turkey. She loved snacks. She hated bees and lizards and dedicated a large chunk of her days to plotting their demise. :) Although she was dealt a bad hand regarding her health, I will choose to remember all of the good times we had with our girl. Her last 3 months were not the whole picture. She was silly, loving, and naughty at times. Rebel was a part of our family, she was so loved, and she will always be missed.

Tickles
2010 - 2026
Once Upon a Time on a chilly December morning in 2018, a small, elderly, sweater-clad, very nervous and quite sick little Patterdale named Tickles, came into our lives. She had a very rough life until she was rescued and we made sure that she knew she was loved every second she was with us. Tickles favorite thing to do was to be with her favorite human, Diana. After she was nursed back to health she spent her days following after her mommy, making a little ticking sound, (hence, part of the origin of her name). Tickles ticking became synonymous with knowing that when you heard her, it was only a matter of time before a sweet little face full of love would show up to gaze adoringly at you. Tickles was the sweetest and most chill dog that we’ve ever come across. She was just here for the love and the vibes. Despite thinking that she might only be with us for a few months, we were lucky enough to have her for eight and a half years—years that we will always cherish. Tickles was preceded in death by her brother, Mr. Poe, and her sister, Stella. She is survived by her loving mommy, Diana; as well as her ‘spare humans,’ sister Lauren, and daddy Jim. Rest in peace sweet baby angel, you took a piece of our hearts—run free until we meet again.

Chloe
2015 - 2026
Chloe came home when she was about 10 weeks old. A chocolate lab filled with boundless energy that I had a hard time keeping up with. We walked many miles together over the course of 11 years. She loved nothing more than to take walks, play tug of war with a rope and spend hours catching a tennis ball in the back yard. Each catch sounded like a baseball hitting a catcher's mitt. I'll never hear that sound again without thinking of the joy that a tennis ball brought her (especially if it was brand new out of the tube).
She is gone now and my heart is shattered. I will treasure the unconditional love she gave, the joy she showed when I came home (or if I was out of sight for more than 10 minutes) and will miss her every day until I see her again.

Rascal

We said goodbye to Rascal on his 19½-year birthday, a milestone that speaks to the remarkable life he lived and the love we shared.
Rascal was stubborn in all the ways dachshunds are famous for, determined to do things on his own terms, and impossible not to love because of it. Beneath that independent spirit was a dog whose greatest joy was being close to the people he loved. If there was a spot beside one of us, that was exactly where Rascal wanted to be.
For many years, Rascal shared his life with his sister, Harlie, a toy poodle. Their relationship was everything siblings' relationships often are—he harassed her, played with her, snuggled with her, and kept life interesting. They were constant companions, and it brings us comfort to imagine that they are together once again.
Rascal never understood that he was small. Birds, rabbits, and any other creature daring to enter his yard quickly learned that he considered himself its fearless protector. He met life with courage, confidence, and a determination that never faded.
More than anything, Rascal brought joy to our lives. Through nearly two decades of companionship, he filled our days with laughter, comfort, loyalty, and unconditional love. He was loved every second of every day, and in return, he loved us with his whole heart.
We miss the sound of his paws, the warmth of him curled up beside us, and even his stubborn determination. Thank you, Rascal, for a lifetime of love. You were our faithful companion, our protector, our source of joy, and our family. We will carry you in our hearts forever.

Bowser
2010 - 2026
Bowser was the purest puppy soul and we were so lucky to love him 15 years and 5 months. He enjoyed barking at animals out of the window, especially our neighborhood cat. But the day he finally collided with the kitty he froze because he was just too sweet to the core. He was more nervous and high strung, but spent all his happy years with his brother Dexter who was his safe place. Even if they were apart just a few minutes when a door closed, it was so cute to see them celebrate when they reunited. Bowser loved chasing mini tennis balls, leaping and running in his younger days. Even if he wasn’t feeling well, he would always perk up for treats which brought us comfort to see him have some joy in his last days. Every time he barked he did a little pounce backwards and had the cutest raspy voice. He was very anxious to be apart from us, but rejoiced and warmed our hearts with so much love every time we walked through the front door. Although we feel the heartbreak of his absence it brings us peace knowing he is free of pain and reunited with his best friend Dexter. Courtney, Derek, Harvey, Sully and Ginny love you both forever. Buddy
2012 - 2026
Our hearts are broken as we say our final goodbye to our Yorkshire Terrier, Buddy. We had 5,044 days with our sweet, tenacious, and devoted fur baby. He has made every single day brighter just by being with us.
Buddy came into our lives on August 3, 2012, as a rescue who spent his first months raised in a cage in a puppy mill. At the time we thought we were rescuing him from a life of pain and loneliness, but we soon realized God would use his 7-pound frame to minister to us through life’s ups and downs. He became more than a pet — he would become part of our family. What he lacked in size, he more than made up for in heart. Tenacious and full of boundless energy, Buddy had a single-minded focus, to always love and be with us. Buddy’s main human he loved was his dear momma. He became anxious every time his momma left the house, and he would rejoice, jump, bark and wag his tail when Candice returned. We could never know how Buddy perceived time but based on his reaction to her walking through the door her absence must have seemed like an eternity.
Buddy went on many trips with us by flight and car. He wore a tux at his aunt’s wedding, went on many hikes, bike rides, walks, he attended Cameron and Maddie’s baseball and softball games, and even visited Yellowstone National Park! He saw the ocean, mountains, the great plains, rivers, and lakes across the country. A true road companion in every sense, he rode shotgun through countless miles out west and was always a trooper on airplanes. Whether it was a long drive with the windows down or settling in for a flight, Buddy was always ready to go wherever his family was headed. Home, for Buddy, was never a place — it was simply wherever we were. He was sweet to his core, with a spirit that could fill any room and a love that never wavered. Those who knew him will never forget his energy, his devotion, and the way he cuddled, and comforted.
On May 25, 2026, we held him close and let him go in peace — the final, most loving thing we could do for a companion who gave us everything. Candice, Rich, Cameron and Maddie will miss our sweet Buddy, and we are thankful for God’s comfort and grace.

Delilah
2011 - 2026
Lovingly known as "our sweetie" by our boys, she loved all of us so well. I adopted her when I lived alone in Texas and she moved with me across the country to settle down in Tennessee. She was my world before I was married and had babies. And goodness, how this girl loved our babies. She allowed them to show her all of their uninhibited affection and absorbed every bit of it. She could sleep soundly right in the middle of all the wildness of three little boys. She sought them out for snuggles and laid with them on beds, couches and floors. She loved my husband's lap any time of the day and to be draped across my neck at bedtime. Her presence and affection brought us all a great deal of comfort and the purest joy. She was our real-life stuffed animal and we will cherish her memory always.

Russ
2009 - 2026
Russ Jones was not only a dog - but a member of this family. He began his life on the street, abandoned by his original family where he was abused and neglected. It was one day where he was found at an adoption event held by the Dickson County Humane Society - and the rest was history. For 17 amazing years he was a part of the family. Russ was loved everyday by his owners Hamilton Jones, Kathleen Kennedy, his dog brother Ralph, and his three cat siblings Frank, Crash and August. He was always up to trouble - whether it was getting into the garbage, chasing the cats, or begging for more treats. But throughout the trouble - his favorite thing to do was snuggle with his mom, Kathleen, at the end of the day on his favorite blanket. There will never be a day where he's not thought of. He will always be loved and extremely missed.

Sadie

Sadie was the joy of our entire family. She was the last of my kids “childhood dog” to pass. Her life started off very hard and I adopted her when she was just under a year old. She was extremely scared of all men, timid of kids, and only wanted to be around me. Within a year she was the most loving dog to anyone that met her. We quite possibly spoiled her too much if that’s even possible, but the joy she brought to our family will always be remembered.

Nike

For 16 years, Nike had been my constant companion and best friend. He saved my life, I made it through the hardest years of my life because of him and he was the gift that got me through. Nike loved the sun ☀️He loved doing yard work and eating the dirt we dug up. One thing so unique to Nike was he never licked, no wet kisses. Just nose boops and he gave that to me as he slipped away. We feel him now in every sunny day, imagining him resting in it, and being near to us.
I want Nike to be remembered as my constant. His presence, his fur on the floor, his bark, his smiles and his calming presence. He was my anchor; the gravity that pulled me in every day. He was safety and joy. Never underestimate the power of a best friend in an animal. They are God’s gift to us. They often do more healing and bring more joy than anything in this world. Nike was that for me and will always be.
We love you Nike. I promise to come find you on the other side. Keep a spot for me next to you in the fields you run and a tennis ball for me to play with you for eternity ❤️ Rest easy now my dearest friend.

Toejam was more than a pet, he was a beloved family member for 16 years. He was a very loving and silly dog. He was protective of his sisters, and very curious around other animals. From chasing rabbits and birds to unfortunately befriending a skunk, he loved being out doors.
He will be greatly missed, but always loved and never forgotten.

Moxie was a Toy Fox Terrier. While people often commented on how cute she was, I always felt that "driven," "intense," and "focused" were better descriptions. Although she was originally intended to be my wife Elizabeth's dog, she quickly bonded with me as her Alpha. She had a wonderful life, and we miss her dearly—though perhaps not the little white hairs she left all over the house.

Max, you were only a pound and a half when we rescued you from the shelter after you had been thrown in a storm drain. You grew up into the most amazing friend and family member! Opie came into our lives at a pivotal time and truly made us a family. He changed our lives for the better and showed us what really mattered. Opie loved playing in creeks, going to camp, and chasing his basketball. He protected us until the very end and packed an incredible amount of fun and happiness into his short six years. Woody was with us for nearly fourteen years, faithfully walking beside me through every major season of life. I got him in college, and he was present through grad school, dating my now wife, our marriage, and becoming a dad to two little boys. He was steady, gentle, loyal, and loving.
He welcomed our children with patience and love, tolerated countless hugs, and somehow always knew when someone needed comfort. He loved walks, table food, his stuffies, and greeting people. Even as his body slowed, his spirit never did. When it was time, he let us know with grace.
He wasn’t “just a dog.” He was family. A constant. A bridge from boyhood into manhood. We are forever grateful for the years we were given and will carry his memory with us always. Woody you will be missed and we love you dearly.

Dexter

Dexter lived a happy and energetic 15 years and 4 months. He was feisty up until his last days. His favorite things were stealing socks, chasing little toys, demanding pets and being carried around the house so I could show him things he was too short to see. He also loved road trips to visit his other dog friends and sitting in his dad’s office while he played video games. He was our dearest companion through 3 houses and 3 babies, always by our side. Dexter was the sweetest most gentle boy even if he was at the vet or getting a haircut, everyone always complimented him. He was so intelligent and gifted he could predict our next move before we even made it. The only hard part about having him as a pet was saying goodbye. We will cherish our memories with him and he will forever be in our hearts. Our biggest thank you to Bentley Veterinary Services for helping us honor his life.

Piper came to us homeless and scared. Our son, Cole, rescued her, but in the end she rescued us in so many ways. Full of sass and love, she was the Queen of the Castle. Her favorite spots were all up in your space and on a shoulder, and underneath a Christmas tree. She loved her perch where she could talk to the birds and chipmunks; and, while she loved being outside, her allergies made it impossible for her to be outside once we moved to our house. She was the best snuggler and had so much personality. We love and miss her every day. Especially at night because no one is sitting atop us "making biscuits" as we try to fall asleep.

Parker

Parker may have been the cuddliest pup one could ever meet. He loved deeply, was loyal to his people, loved meat more than any dog on this planet and had eyes that would melt the hardest of hearts. Parker fought so hard to stay with us and we are so grateful that Dr. Amy gave him the opportunity to be at peace once and for all, in the arms of the person he loved most, his boy Hudson. Thank you Parker for loving us so deeply, for all the kisses, for showing the young pups the way and for fighting so hard to stay with us. To say we miss you, well that would be an understatement. Mr. Poe

Mr Poe entered my life when he was 5 and I was…younger. He had been returned to the shelter three times for being ‘too affectionate.’ And perhaps he was the most friendly, clingy, needy, cuddly cat I’ve ever met, but he wasn’t too affectionate—not for me. Mr Poe was perfect. We had a bond like no other I have ever had. He’s been my ride or die bestie ever since the moment I saw him at the shelter in Denver. For thirteen years we have been by one another’s side and they’ve been the best years for me—and I’m pretty sure for him too. For thirteen years he’s been my life and I miss him desperately. I know he was greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by all of my beloved animals that came before him and I know that he’s still with me. Until we meet again, my Big Brave Boy, I love you. Gracie was a very loved member of our family for almost 16 years. She was a sweet Maltipoo. She loved people and would rather be with us than other dogs. She was a great cuddler and always wanted to give kisses. When she was younger she LOVED tennis balls and would bark excitedly when she heard one bounce. She had the balance and agility of a poodle so she would often dance on her hind legs much to our delight. Her absence is felt deeply by us. Our fond memories are cherished of this precious, loyal companion. We are so thankful for our girl and will always miss her.

Our sweet Sadie lost her battle with lymphoma at the young age of 7. She was the best dog and loved spending time with her sister Sandee. Sadie and her sister enjoyed hunting chipmunks in the backyard, daily walks, weekend hikes, pontoon boat rides, and several trips to Edisto beach. She was a loving loyal friend till the very end. We miss her so much.

Samson was such a sweet, easy going dog. Being so adorable, kids of course wanted to pet him and he was very tolerant and friendly. Until this past year, he consistently ran to the door to greet us and loved going on walks and sitting in laps! He will always hold a special place in our hearts!

Our beloved Miller passed over the rainbow bridge peacefully April 11th. His gotcha day was almost 4 years to the day he passed. Despite all of the trauma he endured in his early years, he persevered in everything he did...mostly protecting his beloved humans. There is nothing like Millie looking up into your eyes with his eyes, longing for love, cuddles, and kisses. DM didn't define Miller, he defined it, and more importantly defied it. He was fiercely independent and loyal all at the same time. Run Miller run, and be free....we love you to the moon and back.

On March 11, we said goodbye to our sweet Eli. For nearly 12 years, he was more than just our golden retriever—he was family. From the moment we brought him home, he filled our lives with unconditional love, warmth, and joy. He grew up alongside my daughter, sharing childhood games of hide-and-seek, morning snuggles, and endless adventures in the yard. He had a heart full of love for everyone he met and taught us how to love more deeply in return.
Eli’s last day was a peaceful one. He spent his final moments in the fresh air, listening to the birds, feeling the breeze on his face—just as he always loved. Though our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain and is now running free in heaven, reunited with my dad.
Eli, you were the best boy, our loyal companion, and our gentle soul. We miss you beyond words but will forever cherish the love and memories you gave us. Rest easy, sweet boy.

Coco was my first dog, I was 7 years old and I saved up my allowance for months as I awaited her arrival. The moment we brought little Coco home she brought unlimited energy and love into our family. She loved to play ball all day. When it was time for bed, she would lie next to me. She was always there for me, whether I needed a star for my iMovie videos or just to hold her when I was upset. Coco was the sweetest dog that loved her family and her ballie. She was my best friend and the best dog I could ever have.
We will miss her and look forward to playing ballie with her again.

Cash

Our best boy, Cash, crossed the rainbow bridge on January 22, 2025. He had an amazing 8 years with us and has left huge paw prints on our hearts.
He was my shadow, protector, and lover boy. He experienced traveling across the country and had the most amazing hikes in Utah, snow adventures in Utah and Colorado, NC fall hikes, TN summer swims, sofa snuggles, afternoon naps, and time in the sun. He will be greatly missed!!
Dr. Amy Smith has that gentle soul that can enter a house full of sadness and make everyone feel comfortable while helping our beloved pets in a time of need.

My sweet Reagle crossed the rainbow bridge on December 14, 2024. He was my protector, little lover boy, and the sweetest dog I have ever had the pleasure of going through life with. He experienced high school, college, new homes. and new adventures with me. I truly couldn’t ask for a better companion to get me through this crazy thing we call life. His favorite song was “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5, and one of the lines in the song states “Living life gets hard to do…” and I will never be mad at him for reaching that point. Dr. Amy Smith was an angel sent to me the day we decided to make the hardest decision. She was next to me the whole time, offering her condolences and asking questions about Reagle that made me think of all the great times I had with him. Although he was not able to meet my daughter who blessed us with her arrival on December 20, 2024, I know he helped her reach me safely and gave her kisses along the way. I recommend Bentley Veterinary Services to anybody making this hard decision- Dr. Amy Smith made the process bearable for me when I truly didn’t think I would be able to keep myself together. She was amazing and I appreciate her every single day for taking care of my sweet boy.

Scout
2012 - 2024
Scout, our beloved 12-year-old companion, passed away on Sunday, September 8th. This small but fierce dog held a special place in our hearts, and her memory will continue to bring us joy.
Scout loved the simple things in life - napping alongside us, perching atop the couch, and running joyfully through the backyard. She was a fierce protector, barking at strangers until she deemed them trustworthy. Yet beneath that tough exterior, Scout possessed a heart overflowing with loyalty and affection.
When I moved to Tennessee, Scout quickly made our new house a home. Her ability to adapt and find comfort in any situation was truly remarkable. Scout's vibrant personality, intelligence, and unwavering bond with our family will be deeply missed.
Though Scout's life was far too short, the impact she had on our lives is immeasurable. We will cherish the memories of her humor, her cuddles, and the special connection we shared. Scout may be gone, but she will forever remain in our hearts.

Shay

11 years will never be enough time with our girl. Shay was one of a kind, she had that special thing about her. I have never known or heard of a more attentive animal in all my life. I know my words will fall so short! She continuously showed our family what true love looked like. She was my shadow, one I feel at a loss without. She wasn’t just a dog, she was a part of our puzzle that we will miss eternally. We miss her snuggles, her playing, her need to be held, we even miss her counter surfing! We simply miss her presence in our lives. She was an angel placed on this earth and we feel so honored that God chose us to love her. Joshy

We had Joshy for 15 years. We wanted to name him after a Bible name so we named him Joshua, but somewhere along the road it changed to Joshy. He was such a calm, sweet, and funny dog. He brought joy to a lot of people. Everyone who met Joshy, loved him. He loved chewing on bones, playing tug of war, sticking his head out the car window, pepperonis, pup cups, sleeping on his back with his tongue sticking out, and many other things. His favorite thing was to be let off his leash and have the freedom to smell and pee on whatever he wanted. And he was always there at the end of a bad day to make it better just by saying hi. Steinway
2011 - 2024
We had to say goodbye to our best friend and my first baby, Steinway. Steinway was seriously the sweetest, most loyal dog. He always had a smile on his face and never strayed from our side. He loved hikes, walks, sticks, marshmallows, fires, chasing the birds in the yard, and lots of massages. He was with us following college and celebrated all our major life milestones including our wedding, first home, grad school, transition into my role as a NNP, both pregnancies and saw both of our babies home. He went on several vacations with us including Charleston, Florida, dog beach, Rosemary Beach, and our several trips to Indiana. It feels so hard to imagine any of our future milestones without him and the house is so quiet. We love you bud and will always cherish your memories. I hope to see you again one day! Until then, enjoy life pain free running through the fields and wildflowers.

Nugget

We were so lucky to have Nugget in our family for almost 17 years. His birthday was 7-7-2007 so we felt like he was our lucky dog ☘️
In his younger days he loved to take a Sunday trip to my moms and he would run in full force to his Gee were she would have a slice a cheese waiting for him … she loved seeing him as much as he loved going. I know on 3-21-24 Gee was waiting to greet him in Heaven with a slice of cheese!!

Sahara
2009 - 2024
Sahara spent twelve of her fifteen years with us. Always sweet and affectionate, she loved to be a lap cat. We are grateful to have had Sahara as part of our story. She made us better humans. It was a joy to experience her affection; it was painful to see her unwell. We are very appreciative of Dr. Smith and Bentley Veterinary Services for helping her pass at home with petting and love.

Chi
2009 - 2024
We got a dog back in college after only dating for a few months. We named him Chi (pronounced ‘Kai’ after the fraternity, Sigma Chi) Chi was the ultimate San Diego party/beach dog. He loved when people came over and learned to tip their red cups to drink their beer. He loved chasing a ball and swimming in the ocean. He made many trips with us and was such a good road companion. He loved to swim and would run and jump in any body of water given the opportunity. Chi has been there through it all—us getting married, welcoming 3 children and making the cross country move with us to Tennessee. Chi passed peacefully with us by his side on March 5th. He made it 14 long years. Us and our 3 sons will miss him dearly but we know he is chasing balls and swimming up in doggy heaven.

I could write a novel about the adventures we had or a dissertation about the profound impact Layla had on my life, but none of it would do her justice. She was the most loyal companion and best friend for 13 years. She leaves an immeasurable void. Olive

Our beloved Olive Marie was always large and in charge! In 8+ years, there wasn't a morning she didn't wake us up to let us know it was time for breakfast! She was our Lady of Leisure and fiercely protective of her family with more bark than bite! Sis was our little warrior and love bug with a great stink eye to boot. She loved car and boat rides, and more than anything, just being part of her pack/family. Miss you everyday, Bootsie!
